This months topic comes to you after seeing profound results with my patients, then posting on social media about it. There has been so much interest that I am now being asked to discuss this case/technique with all of you. The topic is on Mastitis and Cupping.

Here is the story:

I wanted to share something profound that happened to me in my acupuncture practice. I saw a postpartum woman who came to me at PUSH San Diego for mastitis. She was 5 weeks postpartum with a very painful bleb, a painful white sac on the outer portion of her nipple and the other breast had burning pain.

I self taught myself this technique of cupping a breast after years of working with women. I was taught fire cupping at PCOM and have been doing it for 15 years. No one had ever taught me this and I began practicing with my doula clients and close friends with incredible success everytime.

I had the women rub coconut oil and lavender essential oil on her breast/s. I put one small glass cup (fire cupping) right over her nipple, Milk sprayed out into the cup. Within 2 minutes I removed the cup and the white sac had burst and the discomfort was gone. On the other breast she had burning pain so I cupped again lightly for 2 minutes. After I performed a light acupuncture and moxabustion session. Both breasts released some milk (another reason not to cup too long I didn't want to take her baby's milk).

Anyway, an hour after she left my office she sent me this picture of what came out of her breast with the next feeding. She has had no pain since she left my office in either breast. Traditional Chinese Medicine is amazing!!! I will share the picture at the event.
